Fr. Lawrence and the Pastoral Associate Search Committee are pleased to announce that they have selected Colleen McCahill as St. V’s new Pastoral Associate.
As a parishioner for more than a decade, Colleen has already brought so much to our community. She has served on the Education & Enrichment and Liturgy Committees and Parish Council, including three years as council president, and worked with St. V’s children in Faith Fun Fellowship and confirmation preparation as well as with the residents of St. Vincent’s Park as part of the Park Working Group.
But in addition to all that, Colleen brings her considerable professional qualifications to the job. She has a Master of Arts in Church Ministries with a concentration in Spirituality and a Master of Arts in Theology. Most recently she has served as a hospital chaplain for Johns Hopkins. Prior to that, she prepared program resources at Mount Saint Agnes Theological Center for Women. And for more than 15 years, she worked as a doula and child birth educator.
Colleen, her husband Tom and their four children came to St. Vincent in 2004. She was confirmed here in 2005, after which Fr Lawrence encouraged her in her desire to pursue theological education. She received her Master’s in Theology in 2010 and her Master’s in Church Ministries in 2015.
Throughout her career, she has tended to the social, emotional, and spiritual needs of people as they cross the thresholds of life: at birth, and at death. She has helped children and adults explore their faith more deeply. And she herself was inspired by our community on her own spiritual journey. St. Vincent is fortunate to have found someone so qualified for the job and at the same time so willing to give back to this community. Welcome Colleen!
